Beach Attractions
Bentota is situated on the northern coastal tip of
the Galle District of the Southern Province.
This coastal city is a popular tourist attraction
for its beautiful golden beaches.
Large-scale reconstruction of Bentota has taken place
after the Indian Ocean Tsunami heavily damaged it on 26th
December 2004.
Bentota beach provides perfect location for windsurfing
and sailing.
Induruwa beach, located just 5km from Bentota, is
famous for turtle spotting and sunbathing.
Apart from the tranquil beachside there are several
other attractions in Bentota like Turtle hatchery, Bentota
Ganga, Galapata Vihara and many others.
Bentota Ganga river is a perfect destination for
enjoying boat rides and all sorts of water sports.
Galapata Vihara, is a beautiful Temple dating from the
12th century onwards. Various other temples are present in
its vicinity, all connected by a series of underground tunnels.
Transportation
All modes of transportation like air-conditioned
buses, chauffer driven car, and taxis are easily availably
in all Sri Lankan cities.
For covering short distances Tuk-Tuk could be the best
option.
