Negombo is a small town at a distance of 40 km from
Colombo and mere 6 km from International Airport. It is located
at the mouth of the Negombo Lagoon.
Sri Lanka's major international airport is on the
outskirts of Negombo, a traditional fishing town of Sri Lanka.
A large number of tourists visit Negombo every year
due to its wide sandy beaches and sprawling sea.
Mark Warner Water sports Center is a popular destination
for adventure sports.

beach visit Marawila, where the beaches are much quieter.
Chilaw, a colorful fishing village, also attracts

Negombo Sightseeing
Journey northeast to Wilpattu Game Park.
Visit the ruins of Yapahuwa.
Visit old Dutch fort gate, which was built in 1672
Angurukaamulla Temple in negombo is famous for its
giant Buddha statue and beautiful old paintings and murals.
Take a boat trip on sea, lagoon or the old Dutch
canals.The 100km long canal running through the town is still
being used.
Visit the little-explored ruins of Panduvasnuwara,
an ancient Sinhalese capital. The town also has several buildings
that date back to the Dutch and Portuguese colonial era.
Negombo's economy is mainly based on tourism and fishing.
You can visit its colorful fish market, held every day except
Sunday.
