Old Town Galle provides a unique opportunity to
relax in the quaint surroundings and soothing atmosphere of
this beautiful old city.
Galle could be regarded as the best example of a
fortified city built by Europeans in south and Southeast Asia,
showing wonderful synthesis of European and south Asian traditions.
Three centuries Old Dutch atmosphere can be sensed
even today around its majestic old buildings.
The Galle Fort is a world heritage site under UNESCO
and probably the largest remaining fortress in Asia built

on Dutch established their control over the Portuguese areas
and further improved the defence system of the fort. After
Dutch, the Britishers occupied it.

Oriental Hotel, and Dutch Reformed Church (completed in 1745)
